About 8Dflow

8Dflow is an Australian software company building a focused way for small and mid-sized manufacturers to manage quality issues, actions, evidence, and closure. The product is planned for public release in December 2026.

Why we started 8Dflow

Many manufacturers still manage 8D reports, NCRs, corrective actions, and supplier follow-up across spreadsheets, email, and shared folders.

Those tools are familiar, but the record fragments quickly: containment sits in one file, actions in another, evidence in email, and the latest customer update in someone's inbox.

8Dflow is being built to bring that follow-up into one controlled workflow without asking a smaller manufacturer to replace its whole QMS.

Who we're building 8Dflow for

The first product is for small and mid-sized manufacturers where a quality manager or small quality team coordinates follow-up across production, engineering, operations, customer service, and supplier quality.

People involved

  • Quality managers
  • Operations and production leaders
  • Manufacturing engineers
  • Supplier quality teams
  • Customer quality and service teams
  • Owners of small and mid-sized manufacturers

Quality work involved

  • Customer complaints and 8D responses
  • Internal, supplier, and customer nonconformances
  • CAR and SCAR follow-up
  • Corrective actions, verification, and effectiveness review
  • Evidence, approvals, customer updates, and closure

8Dflow is not a full QMS, supplier portal, or regulated CAPA system. It is being built to sit alongside the company's existing quality process.

What the first version will cover

The first version will cover the core quality issue workflows described across this site: 8D reports, NCRs, CARs, SCARs, and corrective actions, including evidence, verification, effectiveness review, approvals, and closure.

Record the issue

Capture the problem, requirement not met, affected product, source, containment, owner, and due date.

Investigate and assign action

Record possible causes, supporting evidence, corrective actions, owners, and target dates without treating an untested cause as proven.

Verify and review effectiveness

Confirm the action was completed as planned, then review whether it worked over time.

Close and report

Record the closure decision, approvals, supporting evidence, and a reviewed customer-facing report.

Principles behind the product

8Dflow is being designed to organize the work without replacing quality or engineering judgment.

Evidence before conclusion

Possible causes remain possible until the available evidence supports the cause conclusion.

Verification is not effectiveness

Completion shows that an action was carried out. Effectiveness shows whether the action reduced recurrence over time.

Closure is a decision

A record should close only after the required actions, evidence, reviews, and approvals are complete.
